The words of our founder, Steve Reko, still inspire us today. Reko International Group Inc. is a top performing manufacturing center like nothing else today because of its strong founding beliefs.

Steve Reko believed that metal cutting would always be a necessary step for any manufactured product and established his company on expert knowledge and innovation in this area.

A young journeyman machinist, Steve Reko emigrated from Hungary to Canada in 1957. Like many post war Eastern European immigrants, he thought Canada offered great possibilities and opportunities for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit. After gaining some experience in the mould and die sector, he established Reko Tool & Mould Inc. in 1976, with a $25,000 investment in a 2,000 square foot facility to manufacture plastic injection moulds.

His “common sense approach to metal cutting” and a desire to find that “better way to do things” lead to the company’s success. Eventually the company expanded into markets beyond tooling, such as fixtures, automation, and the precision custom machining of very large fabrications and castings. While many markets are now served today, the machining and engineering expertise is common to all parts of the Company.

While we sadly lost our founder to cancer in December of 2007, his legacy and words of wisdom remain. We work to fulfill his offering to every customer.
